THE PRODIGAL SON

This week I will be looking at the prodigal son parable. I am hopefully going  to preach on this Sunday October 14 at Mickey’s.

Here is a sneak peak at this sermon and I will film it at down load it onto you tube and or face book, I may try and down load it here on the site as well.

let’s look at what a parable is, what the word parable means, and how it was used by Jesus Christ to teach.

First the word parable comes from the Greek word ” parabole”  it means: the placing of one thing beside another with a view to compare or illistrate , in order for the parable  to have meaning, the hearer must catch the analogy if he is to be instructed.Normally  a main point was made and not every detail was to have significance.

HOW WERE THEY USED? Jesus used these stories of ordinary  life to illistrate  spiritual truth in the form of comparason, similes, snslogies and proverbal sayings.
There are several well known parables like the prodigal son, the beam in the eye, the two debtors, the sower and the seed, and several more.

The prodigal son has many illistrations, and symbols, the feeding of the swine (pigs) shows hitting rock bottom.God declared swine to be unclean ti the jews. So the fact that the son fed the swine and desired to eat their food shows hitting rock bottom. This shows the depths of misery in which sin brings the sinner.

Good example of true repentance, repent comes from the Greek word metanoeo. This  literally means to have another mind. Used 34 times in the new testament repentance is a necessary part of salvation.

He came to himself: God;s word makes it clear that the wages of sin is death ( Romans 6:23) (Romans 1 :18-20) reveals that even those who do not know  God’s word have an intuitive  knowledge of right and wrong and God’s judgement against sin. His father eagerly awaiting is like our Heavenly Father, His father restored full sonship: God takes great pleasure in prosperity of his children.

The older brother was self-centered, self-righteous and chose to take the praise of men over a relationship with God.

When we first became Christians and saw no evidence of change, got no reward or praise for correctly walking with the Lord we did the same thing and some of us ended up walking away from God totally and living a worldly life until we got sick and tired of being sick and tired. All the while God sat patiently like a good father will and waited  for our return because our absence from him grieves him very much. And when we come back he restores us and renews our minds, and hearts. He throws a party in Heaven and says HEY MY CHILD, MY CREATION HAS COME  BACK TO ME AND COME BACK HOME TO OUR HEAVENLY FAMILY LET’S PARTY. That is how much our Heavenly Father loves and cares for us. A love that is never ending, and unconditional, It is called agape love, a love so rich, so deep, that  HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, for our ransom to free us from the bondage of sin, and when we walk away he knows we will return because he uses what he wills to use to get our attention and draw us back nigh to his side. I hope this article taught you something and hope that you enjoy it, as much as I have enjoyed learning as I wrote it for a future sermon.

A CHOICE TO MAKE

We all make choices in life, some small, some big and some major.

what are the small choices we make? well what to wear , whether a t-shirt, shorts, jeans, tennis shoes, boots, what ever these are the small choices we make without ever really thinking about it. Then we make the big choices in which those of us who are married will consult our spouse about, like buying a car, motorcycle, boat, house these are choices we need consulting on otherwise we may have a mad hubby or wife coming at us like an ax murderer. I think consultation is the better way to go don’t you? The choice I am writing about though is a major choice, one that will effect you long after you die. What choice is that ? This is the choice of salvation and whether we will spend eternity using sun screen, or chillin’ in a place full of peace, and where there are things in abundance, these two places have a name, one is Heaven, where we all want to go and the other is Hell where you roast like a hot dog on a grill on a hot july weekend cookout.

What is salvation?

Salvation is defined as the following,

A) THE ACT OF SAVING,PRESERVATION, OR DELIVERANCE FROM DESTRUCTION, DANGER OR GREAT CALAMITY.

B)THE REDEMPTION OF MAN FROM THE BONDAGE OF SIN AND LIABILITY TO ETERNAL DEATH AND THE CONFERRING ( CONFIRMATION) OF HIM OF EVER LASTING HAPPINESS.

C ) SAVING POWER, THAT WHICH SAVES.

There are some 386 occurrences of salvation used in the bible we will look at three scriptures, the are

Mathew 1:21, Mathew 10:22  and Mathew 19:25

Mathew 1:21 , And she shall bring forth a son and thou shalt call his name JESUS, meaning what? What does the name Jesus mean?one who saves, what was he saving us from? Well he was saving us from the bondage of sin and liability to eternal death, so therefore he saved us from what? He saved us from destruction and danger. Destruction and danger of what? The danger and destruction that our own sin nature brings, because the price of sin is death so he also saved us from eternal death. Now you may be wondering how can anyone die a death for eternity, well it is simple, death in the bible is not defined as it is in the worldly sense. Death is the separation totally from God, where you feel no peace of mind and you will always wonder what if I did things the right way.

Mathew 10:22, and he shall be hated for my name sake,but he that endureth to the end shall be saved, Jesus suffered to save us from the dangers of sin and thus allowed us to have eternal life through him so now that we are saved we are not liable to eternal death through him as long as we keep his ways.

Mathew 19:25,when his disciples heard it they were exceedingly amazed, saying  who then can be saved? Jesus responds to this question in verse 26 saying, with men this is impossible but with God all things are possible, meaning that through our own strength we could not possibly reach eternal life, but through the divine strength and guidance of God this is possible. There is nothing God can’t do as long as you allow him to do so in your life. Sometimes we hinder that whether it be consciously or sub-consciously due to our sin d.n.a.

You see through all of these scriptures you see a pattern that Jesus did not come to condemn us, we were already condemned in our sin, sin is what condemned us to hell. Jesus is like our lawyer who through his suffering set us free.So we could say not only was He sent to fulfill prophecy, He was sent to save us from our own hell we created for ourselves in our own sin.

A NEW COVENANT WITH GOD

I was praying one night and thinking on things which would hinder prayer and make it seem like the Lord was walking away and leaving me on my own as if I was riding through the Sahara on a solo ride and ended up broke down on the side of the road. Well if I was to ride on a solo ride through the Sahara on my way to Sturgis bike week let me think what would hinder me from completing that particular run and then compare it to what would hinder the hand of God and see if we don’t come up with a solution to both situations. We will look at the things that hinder the motorcycle run then look at what we could do next time to complete the run and compare it to what would hinder God’s hand and what we could do to make his work in our life manifest quicker than what it does or even manifest  at all.

Here we go, SITUATION

WE HAVE A RUN TO STURGIS AND WE HAVE TO MAKE OPENING DAY FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER THE POINT IS WE MUST MAKE THE OPENING DAY AND WE HAVE 1400 MILES TO COVER IN ABOUT 2 DAYS  SO IN ALL THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE WE JUMP ON OUR RIDE WHICH HAS NOT BEEN STREET TESTED YET AND THINK WE ARE GOOD TO GO AND WE HEAD OFF INTO THE BLUE YONDER ROLLING DOWN THE ROAD AND WE HIT ABOUT THE 200 MILE POINT IS THIS HOW WE WANT TO FIND OUT HOW MANY MILES TO THE TANK WE GET AS FAR AS GAS GOES. OH THE ENGINE BUILDER SAID IT WOULD GET, REALLY? WHY WOULD HE SAY THAT WE ARE 200 MILES IN THE MIDDLE OF NO MAN’S  LAND AND WE ARE OUT OF GAS NO CELL SERVICE NOTHING AND WE DON’T SEE ANY SIGNS OF CARS OR CIVILIZATION ANY WHERE IN SIGHT NOR HAVE ANY CARS COME AROUND AND WE ARE DOING THE OUT OF GAS DRILL FOR REAL THIS TIME. WHAT COULD WE HAVE DONE TO PREVENT THIS?

WE COULD HAVE,

1) TESTED HOW MANY MILES TO THE GALLON WE GOT FOR OUR TANK OR HOW MANY MILES TO THE TANK WE GOT BEFORE WE HIT THE RESERVE.

2) WE COULD HAVE HAD A CHASE TRUCK BEHIND US TO KEEP US FROM GETTING INTO THIS PREDICAMENT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

SO IN THIS SITUATION WHO’S FAULT IS IT THAT WE ARE OUT OF GAS ON THE SIDE OF THE DESERT ROAD, IS IT THE TANK BUILDER? NO, IS IT THE PEOPLE WHO DIDN’T FOLLOW US IN THE TRUCK? NO. WHY BECAUSE THEY KNEW NOTHING ABOUT THE RUN OR ELSE THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN THERE. SO ULTIMATELY IT IS WHO’S FAULT? ANSWER, OUR FAULT FOR NOT DOING WHAT WE KNOW TO DO AND THAT IS TAKE THE TIME TO TEST THE BIKE BEFORE GOING ON THE 1400 MILE RUN.

WELL LET’S COMPARE IT TO GOD AND WHAT WOULD HINDER HIS HAND.

THE BIBLE SAYS ASK AND WE SHALL RECEIVE RIGHT? WELL YES BUT IT HAS TO COME INTO ALIGNMENT WITH HIS WILL AND HOW WOULD WE KNOW THAT WHAT WE WANT IS IN HIS WILL, BY STUDYING HIS WORD AND PRAYING AND ASKING IF IT IS WHAT HE WANTS BEFORE WE ACT, AND SOMETIMES WE GET OUT OF TOUCH WITH GOD AND SO WE MUST MAKE A NEW COVENANT OR A KNEW RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM BY REDEDICATING OURSELVES TO HIM.

HOW ELSE WOULD WE HINDER THE HAND OF GOD? WELL WHEN WE TRY AND DO THINGS IN OUR OWN STRENGTH AND NOT DEPEND ON HIM TOTALLY WE HINDER HIS HAND WHY? BECAUSE WHEN HE WORKS THROUGH US IN OUR WEAKEST MOMENTS HE IS GLORIFIED, BUT WHEN WE DO THINGS IN OUR OWN STRENGTH THEN WE CAN BOAST AND GOD DOES NOT LIKE A BOASTFUL PERSON BECAUSE IT TAKES AWAY FROM HIS GLORY, AND MAKES IT LOOK LIKE WE DON’T NEED HIM WHEN IN FACT IT IS THE EXACT OPPOSITE WE NEED HIM MORE THAN WE KNOW BECAUSE WE CAN DO NOTHING AND I MEAN N-O-T-H-I-N-G  WITHOUT GOD. WE CAN’T BREATHE , WALK , EAT , LOVE, ANYTHING WITHOUT HIS HAND IN OUR LIVES. IT IS LIKE THE MOTORCYCLE RUN OF 1400 MILES. COULD WE MAKE IT ON AN EMPTY TANK? NO. THAT IS THE SILLIEST THOUGHT EVER TO THINK YOU CAN GO ON A 1400 MILE RUN ON AN EMPTY TANK. SO HOW DO WE COMPARE GOD TO A GAS TANK? WELL WITHOUT GAS WE ARE STRANDED ON THE ROAD PUSHING OUR RIDE ON THE SIDE. WITHOUT GOD WE ARE A MEANINGLESS PEOPLE TRYING TO JUST GET BY IN LIFE WITH NO HOPE OR KNOWLEDGE ON HOW IT IS SUPPOSED TO WORK TOGETHER TO MAKE A COMPLETE CIRCLE THUS MANIFESTING AN OUT POURING OF BLESSINGS GOD WANTS TO BESTOW ON HIS CHILDREN, HIS CREATION, HIS LOVE. WITH GOD WE ARE ABLE TO DO ALL THINGS. SO GOD IS OUR FUEL IN LIFE WHEN THINGS ARE GOOD WE NEED HIM AND WHEN THINGS ARE BAD WE   R-E-A-L-L-Y BAD  WE R-E-A-L-L-Y NEED HIM. SO DO WE BUILD GAS STATIONS JUST WHEN WE ARE EMPTY? NO. DO WE WAIT UNTIL WE ARE COMPLETELY EMPTY TO FILL UP?NO. SO WHY SHOULD WE TREAT GAS FOR OUR BIKES BETTER THAN WE TREAT GOD? SILLY TO THINK WE DO THAT BUT WE  SOMETIMES DO. SO MAKE THAT COVENANT WITH GOD AND DO JUST GO TO HIM WHEN  YOU ARE EMPTY AND NEED A FILL UP OR A TUNE UP. GO TO HIM WITH ALL ASPECTS OF LIFE AND EXPECT A TOTAL MANIFESTATION IN ALL AREAS BECAUSE GOD WANTS US TO BE BLESSED SO WE CAN BLESS OTHERS THUS GLORIFYING HIM IN THE PROCESS.

THE ROAD A REFLECTION OF MY ROAD TRIP THIS WEEKEND

Early on Sunday morning around 2:30 a.m.  i was scheduled to head to a county here in Florida about 2 or 3 hours north of where I am and it was my first time taking the interstate 95, I was nervous as one should be when you’re riding on two wheels doing 65-80 mph anything can happen , a blow out on your biker, a blow out from a semi truck who knows you are exposed to the elements and totally vulnerable to anything and everything that could possibly come your way.

Some ask why are you a biker and some say you can’t possibly be both a christian and a biker and others well they think I am just plumb lost my marbles and totally a freak of nature well in a way this is true and I will show you why and how.

One the road when riding a motorcycle you see things differently, you see in more of a high definition type of way, you smell everything whether it’s a good smell or a smell that is foul while rolling past a cow pasture. You have time to think and not only one with your bike, not only one with the road, you are one with God and this is more important than anything else on this earth because you are totally in his hands and you must have faith in him that his hedge of protection is upon you and nothing can or will penetrate that protection. I rolled through some deep ruts in the road cut by who knows what in a construction area and the front end shimmied and shook and wanted to go one way, while the rear wanted to go another and I had to have faith that the bike would remain straight no matter what because I was on my way to minister to family and fellowship with a friend. This run was for a purpose and it was a run that was not planned out in advance. I know it was God calling me to run this trip to see those in that town.On the way we stopped many times and spoke with people but I forgot to bring a few important things, bibles.tracts , books and cd’s but next time I will be better prepared. I hope my short talks with people helped them out. I met a man with a crippled hand from a motorcycle accident, I prayed for him as I left. I learned lessons on this trip and next time it will be more meaningful I think the Lord used this to prepare me for a longer journey when I roll up to Daytona Beach Florida for Bike week in February or March.

On my way home my faith would be tested again as I misjudged the distance between me and a semi truck as I switched lanes I only gave one quick glance and the next thing I knew I was sharing lanes with an 18 wheeler but I felt a peace unlike no other as I was kind of like well excuse me sorry and got back in my lane. I did get over after he passed my wife was more panicked than I because I knew God had control of my bike. He said I gave this to you and you ain’t layin’ it down on 95 that’s for sure and so we pulled into a rest stop where my wife ask how crazy are you? I said I was fine and she shook her head as we sat for a moment and got back on the road.

I cannot wait to take another ride like that again it will be fun and a bit longer. However this is to show you that fear is a spirit and it has no place in the hearts and minds of God fearing Christians.

A BIBLICAL MARRIAGE

What is a Biblical marriage, it seems as though Americans through their distorted ideologies and  their so-called alternative life styles have taken an approach to what I would say an alternative Bible in the context of what a true marriage is, not was.

let us look at the Bible and see what the marriage  is supposed to represent, what the model for it is, not was and How God defines marriage NOT THE WORLD.

What is the definition of marriage?  is the unity between one man and one woman. We have all heard this and we should know this. Homosexuality has been around for quite some time this is one of the reasons why both Sodom and Gomorrah we both judged and ultimately destroyed by God. And now thousands of years later America could face the same judgement because in today’s society it is considered hate speech to speak out against same sex relationships pertaining to bedroom life and same sex marriage which Satan is trying to get us to bow down to and accept as normal, which it is not. Satan has people so snowed into thinking gays and lesbians were born that way, even some members of the body of Christ have bought into this corrupt and abominational ideology which is a bad stinch in the nostrals of God’s very nose. And we sit and cry out to God wondering why our prayers never reach him.

Marriage between one man and one woman according to Hebrews 13:4  is honorable,  and the bed is to be undefiled. The marriage is supposed to be the same as Jesus’ relationship between him and the church. He honors the church, He covers the church,He loves the church, He gave his life for the church as well as all of us.Today marriage is like playing house and when one person doesn’t want to play anymore they pick up their toys and leave like a little child to go play in someone else’s sandbox because it is either bigger or they have better toys, in which case they also don’t realize the baggage in the other box and when it is revealed they are disappointed and sometimes even devastated to the point they take thier own life sometimes and God does not and will not honor this behavior at all and at some point He will judge.

I think we should gather as a flock of the church and repent and try and change all of this around, it can be done, is anyone willing to stand up and take this country founded on judeo christian roots back no matter the cost. THE CHOICE IS YOURS , I KNOW WHERE I STAND.

When we say Father, Son and Holy Spirit what does this mean who are they , what are their names or is this just titles?t

Yes the title of this article is long however it is an important topic that should be addressed and I will do my best to wrap my pea sized brain around this and answer to the best of my capability. I received a question that said we are instructed in Mathew 28:19 to be baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit ( Ghost depending on the translation of the bible you read it could be spirit or ghost both meaning the same thing.) I am going to do my best to answer what are the names of the Father, Son ,and Holy Spirit (ghost)

The names of the father are various names each meaning different things depending on the context it is used nd what part of the Bible it is in. Since the names are numerous I will go over the more commonly used and most recognized and then go back and give you scripture references to the remaining names.

The names of the father,

In Exodus 3:13-14,  it reads,And Moses said unto God ” behold when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall I say unto them, the God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me , WHAT IS HIS NAME? what shall I say unto them”? And God said unto Moses,I AM ,THAT I AM: And he said thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel,I AM hath sent me unto you. Before I go on the setting here is when Moses came upon the burning bush and the fire did not consume the bush this was I believe Moses first encounter with God. So I AM in this context could sum up the other names for the father that we will find as we move on further in this study.

ELSHADDAI – means God almighty, ( gen 49:24) but his bow abode in strength and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the Mighty God of Jacob( from thence the mighty stone of Israel)

YHWH/ Yahwen/Jehova; Lord ( det.6:4,Daniel 9:14)  Deuteronomy 6:4 says Here, O  Israel : The Lord our God is one LORD.

Daniel 9:14 says,  Therefore hath the Lord watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for the LORD out God is righteous in all his works  which he doeth for we obeyed not his voice.   This is showing that they did not obey his voice so therefore he punished them by allowing bad things to come upon them kind of like when we were young and pur parents would spank us, it didn’t bring them joy to do that unless they were sick people but it taught us not to do what ever it was that we did

There are a few other names but I think the main name that I mentioned in this  sums it up quite well I AM THAT I AM. The Father is everything, however it is commanded in the Bible to be baptized in the name of the Father in the context pertaining to the baptism ceremony.

The Name of the Son well this means just that the son of God who is Jesus the Christ.

The Holy spirit well this is hard but the Holy Spirit has no name that I am aware of. The Holy Spirit is the wine and the anointing oil combined. It is the spirit of Jesus that fills our souls and dwells within us. Look at the good simaritan (forgive the misspelling)  When the man fell to the thieves that beat him up and left him for dead the a certain simarritan came and bound his wounds and then took him to the inn where he left 2 pennies and said to the inn keeper if you spend more before I return I will double that and thus left the victim with a comforter after filling him with oil and wine. Oil and wine are two symbols representing the holy spirit. oil makes your face shine and wine makes you feel good. there for in the story two manifestations of God were represented thus  Jesus was the man who picked up the victim and took him to the inn. Jesus was God manifest in the flesh to walk the earth to save mankind from condemnation thus we are baptized in these names

Jehovah Jirah, yhwh.and any other names for God but shortened to the Father, the Son, Jesus , and the Holy Spirit, the sum of the two which fills us up the=us completeing he full three part triune  spirit of God, FATHER,SON HOLY SPIRIT.
