Is there more to salvation than just a prayer?

Posted: April 24, 2012 in Uncategorized

Salvation we hear a lot about it , but di we really know what it is , how it works and how  to help someone obtain it? In my opinion I think we have an idea, basically it is the belief that Jesus Christ lived a sinless life, was crucified on the cross , put in a tomb and was raised on the third day as prophecy states, but is there more? There are a lot of things that are in the bible that are of great importance that I feel are over looked, or looked at as a symbol or as just something they did in the past that is no longer done today. If we are Christians this would mean we are Christ like wouldn’t it? I believe so and thus we must try to act like it, walk like it and talk like it so that fruits are visible to show what we are and not hide it like we are ashamed of it.We should share out belief with people on a daily basis and not only say well I converted this person or that person. When I think of a convert well that is the base word for convertible which to me represents a car so lets see about this convertable person first and see if it lines up with what we are commanded to do by Jesus himself in Mathew chapter 28 verses 19-20 and you see for yourself what you think and if you disagree drop me a line in the contact page and tell me why and correct me by showing me the scriptures.

The convertible car yes they are cool throw the top down and cruise the roads on nice days or on a Friday or Saturday night when the weather permits and that is good and all, me personally I prefer my motorcycle. But this car has a top that goes on and off is that what we want to win to the kingdom of heaven a person who has a heart that fluctuates on and off for the kingdom when the mood  is right or when the stuff hits the fan or do we want permanent fixtures in the kingdom with faith as strong as the red wood tree? With things in the world going the way they are  I look at bikers and yes I look specifically at the out laws for one thing, TRUE UNDYING BROTHERHOOD. W need this in our churches, our jobs, our personal lives, not this swayback convertible  I am only  a Christian in church and live like the devil the rest of the week that my friends to me is a typical convert.

let’s see what the bible says in Mathew 28:19-20. Yes I have written an article on these two verses before and the lord points me back to them for one reason or another but in a way they are simple enough to understand and apply them to our lives even today, because they still stand for us to day as a command.

According to Noah Webster’s dictionary on the biblos website it says, one who receives instruction from another,a scholar, a learner, especially a follower who has learned to believe in the truth of the doctrine of his teacher an adherent in doctrine as the disciples of our savior Jesus Christ.

So are we disciples, well let’s see we take and learn direction from pastors , we study and take direction from the spoken words of the bible which was divinely inspired by the one true living God, we also take direction from the words spoken in the bible from Jesus himself in the new testament as well as direction from the holy spirit. So in my opinion yes we as Christians and followers of Christ we are disciples. How ever the context in Mather 28:19-20 says  Go ye therefore and TEACH all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost,(20) TEACHING  them to observe all things in which I have commanded you, and , lo, I am with you always until the end of the world.

Now you see TEACH in two different ways TEACH them means to disciple them go do and Teaching is simply DO-ING what we are commanded to do and what are we commanded to do observe all things, OBSERVE to me means absorb what is before you so you can determine wether  it is right or wrong through the discernment of the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit how ever you want to call him.SO salvation  is a little deeper than just a simple prayer and POOF you’re saved buck-o . No we must learn all that was taught to the disciples so we can make disciples of salvation of all in whom we come in contact with. MAKE DISCIPLES not converts, converts are like convertible cars they flip back and forth, a disciple and true believer in the doctrine of God’s word is more than a convert he/she is a disciple and is equipped with the knowledge of the truth of the word of God, knows how to depend of the Holy Spirit for direction and does exactly what he is told to do by God and therefore is not shaken by the devil in fact the devil is then shaken by the disciple and running for his life for a change.

So the question was is there more to salvation? answer…… yes most definitely in my  opinion.

Until next time keep the rubber side down and may God richly pour out the blessings onto you from heaven through out the week.

    Hello Rambo,

I agree that there is more to salvation, as you said. However, I would like to go a step further even. In Matthew 28:19, the Bible instructs us to baptize in the name of the Father, and in the name of the Son, and in the name of the Holy Ghost. What is the name of the Father? What is the name of the Son? What is the name of the Holy Ghost? Father and son are titles. They are not names. You may be a father, you may be a son, an uncle, a brother, or a nephew. These may be titles that you hold, but none of these are your name. In Acts 2:38, here we find the name of the Father, the name of the Son, and the name of the Holy Ghost: Jesus. May the Lord bless you abundantly, today and every day!

    • God has multiple names so I will answer your question but it will be written in an article. this question is one that should never go unanswered and is one that I have yet to see be written on, so give me two days and it will be done.

You are correct. I look forward to reading your article. However, I should have added that Jesus is the saving name. Acts 4:12 says, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” God bless!

      • Jesus is the name of the son, where it is commanded in mathew 28:19, because he meaning Jesus said there is no other way to the father but through me so therefore JESUS COULD AND WOULD BE THE ONLY NAME to gain salvation through aside from the Father and Holy Spirit.
